Remove ums from your YouTube videos

Viewers decide in seconds whether to stay. erm finds the ums, uhs and dead air in your YouTube video before you upload, you choose which go, and it removes the filler words without you scrubbing through the timeline.

Tighter YouTube videos, with less editing

Talking to a camera is hard, and most people fill the silence while they think. On a ten-minute video that can be dozens of small stumbles, each one a reason for a viewer to drift away.

What erm finds

Hey everyone, welcome back. Um, today I want to show you uh… 2.8 s pause three things I wish I’d known erm before I started.

An example. Struck words are the cuts erm suggests; long pauses are shortened, not removed. Words like “so” stay unless you ask.

How erm helps with YouTube videos

Remove filler words from YouTube videos in three steps

  1. Drop in your video. A .mov, .mp4 or .m4v of any length, from your camera, phone or screen recorder.
  2. Review the cuts. erm marks each um, erm, uh and long pause. Keep any you like.
  3. Save the edit. Done on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded.

Tips for cleaner YouTube videos

Questions

Will it make my videos sound robotic?

No. Pauses are shortened, not removed, and the joins keep the sound of your room, so the result still sounds like you talking.

Can I still edit afterwards?

Yes. Export the cleaned video and open it in Final Cut Pro, iMovie, DaVinci Resolve or any other editor.

Does it work with long YouTube videos?

Yes. There’s no length or hour limit. Longer videos take longer to listen through, and your Mac does the work.

Can I choose which filler words to remove?

Yes. In Settings you choose which fillers erm looks for, add words of your own, and set how long a pause has to be before it’s shortened.
