Privacy
Short version: your videos stay on your Mac. erm has no account system and no servers that receive your video, your voice or your transcript.
The app
- Listening, finding fillers and cutting all happen on your device.
- The first time you use it, erm downloads its listening model (about 500 MB). That download is the only thing erm uses the internet for, and it sends nothing about your video. After that it works with no internet connection.
- Your video, audio and transcript are never uploaded.
- erm doesn’t ask you to create an account.
- Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details from you.
- To count your 3 free videos, erm keeps a short fingerprint of each video you export, made from what’s said in it and its length, in your Keychain and in Apple’s iCloud key-value storage. It isn’t your video, audio or words, and it’s how reinstalling erm or using another Mac on your Apple Account doesn’t reset the count. We can’t see it.
- erm’s Report a Bug option only opens an email in your mail app, with your erm and macOS versions. Nothing is sent unless you send it.

- If you email us, we keep your message and address only to reply to you and, if you asked, to tell you when erm is out.
